I was going to suggest that you look at http://www.theimac.com/drive_steps.shtml
but I read through them myself and found that all the steps they suggest
are unnecessary. I did the very same thing about 2weeks ago to my Rev.
D and it's pretty ok. I can't find the page I used so I'll try to summarise
here. Don't forget that you should have some kind of grounding strap to
prevent static from killing any of the components inside your computer-
also, try not to move around too much and don't touch anything that you
don't have to!

tools required: Posidrive srewdriver, thin, flat bladed screwdriver (for
undoing the monitor cable)

I'll assume that you know how to get the cpu etc. out of the case, so I'll
begin from there (you can check the above link for instructions):

1) With the metal cage that surrounds the internals of the iMac sitting
so that the CD Drive is facing towards you, push the CD-ROM body backwards
to disengage the drive from its spring loaded clips.
2) undo the 2 screws either side of the HDD (which is sitting underneath
where the CD drive was) and remove the metal clip that also holds it in
place.
3) Push the HDD backwards underneath the Motherboard to disengage some clips
that hold it underneath (this is a bit fiddly- take your time!).
4) The HDD should now be in your hands, still plugged in at the back- remove
these plugs and it's free.
5) All you need to do now is remove the 4 screws that hold the drive into
its cage and slot in your new one.

Reverse the steps to reassemble.
Cheers, Tim
