iMac list friends:
Lately I have been having what I would call a "stalling" problem.
Has been going on for a couple weeks now. I am currently running 9.1
- iMac Graphite - 400 Mz - 768 MB RAM. What happens is that all of a
sudden, the computer just stops....the cursor can be moved, but you
can't get it to do anything. The time elapsing on my modem stops.
Then after I hold down the power button for 5 seconds.....it waits
quite a while and then comes up with the message "do you really want
to shut down" and gives the options. I click "cancel" and away we go
with everything working hunky dory for a while.....then the same
thing again. It also does this when I try to "shut down". It is
almost like when something is "downloading"....but I am not
downloading anything. I have run Norton, Disk First Aid, trashed my
finder preferences, trashed my remote access preferences, trashed my
energy saving preference, even turned on virtual memory (someone had
recommended it and I hadn't had it on).....nothing seems to help. It
has even done it when I was not "on-line".
Does anyone have any ideas? I will be traveling for the next 10
days, but will have access to "read" the list in my email, but will
not be able to respond to the list....I will respond personally if
anyone has any ideas.
