Is there a max 'safe' length before the signal can get garbled? My printer freezes a lot on complex .pdf and IE 5.0 files and I have always wondered whether that has something to do with my 20'+ long, two piece USB cable. I have been thinking about putting one or two powered USB hubs along that line. Might that help? btw, my printer cable runs straight out of the iMac USB port, not through my existing hub - I assume it gets a stronger signal that way.
I use a Rev. D (333) iMac with 512Mb Ram and OS 8.6. The printer is an HP 1200 LaserJet. Thanks, -- Matthew D.
