One consideration is how much their time is worth.  You
can get another USB keyboard for somewhere between $30
and $100 depending on which one you're willing to settle
for.

As for cleaning, I've heard of people having success
soaking one in distilled water overnight, slooshing it
around, and then drying it carefully over a few days.
That means you've lost a few days, though....  I've
also heard of people that never managed to get all
the keys working again.  In fact, I've heard of more
of those.  Of course, I'm a software guy.
