Thanks to all who responded re my pram battery; i had everything turned off and unplugged when we went on vacation for 5 days; otherwise the power strip and imac are always plugged in. i'm going to take it back to the shop, since it was replaced under my applecare warranty, which has another couple of weeks to run.I'll let everyone know what happens.
