But the first is a java app and the other is just slow on its own. Fact is, that Safari is lightning- fast in the vein of Cyberdog (defined and still does cached page- load speeds regardless of platform) in loading and reloading pages on the Mac. Tabbed browsing merely is a trick to compensate for the browser's slowness- you keep busy somewhere while they load in the background. They're cute feature's but my money is on Safari. It's all a matter of preference (except speed on a Mac- which is easily benchmarked), but Safari is the only browser I'd gladly pay money for...and the beta is free! Also, Safari actually handles my OLB *better* than anything out there- even in its beta infancy.
