Hi David.

There are (lots of?) places on the 'net with tutorials and pictures 
and even QT movielettes that show how to upgrade iMacs. (RAM and HD, 
mostly.)

I'm in a bit of a rush right now but here's one place as an example.

I think that's specific for your machine, and just details the 
user-accessible install. I think most of the on-line RAM dealers have 
similar and maybe better info. Also Macworld (on-line) has good 
tutorial info, I just can't locate it readily at the moment. But this 
should get you started. (I'll look further later if necessary.)

Sorry, can't confirm that for you. (I know for a 333 MHz, one DIMM 
has to be low profile, the other doesn't.)

In pre-OS X - Apple Menu/Apple System Profiler/System Profile/Memory Overview.

Maybe. Not likely, AFAIK. Usually the reputable RAM dealers have the 
best current reliable info on RAM upgrades.
