mmmmmm....dvorak. the keyboard layout of the gods themselves! the sweet mana proffered 
to touch typists the world over!

if your friend hasn't already seen <http://www.mwbrooks.com/dvorak/>, point them that 
way.

Virtually any application written for OS 8.X will run in OS 9; most any app for System 
7.X will, too.

The transition from System 6 to System 7 was almost as traumatic as going to OS X, 
though. Some applications for 6 would run in 7 and later... but I think that the 
chances of a System 6 app running in OS 9 are marginal at best. But you never know... 
if it was extremely well written, it may just work.
