I hooked up to an AT&T cable modem last summer and although I love
the speed, the connection seems to stop (or slow to about a 9600 baud
modem speed) around once ever day or two. The only fix that I have
come up with it to put the computer to sleep, unplug the modem for
about two minutes, plug it back in, wake up the computer and then
restart it.

There does not seem to be a pattern of use on my end that precedes this.

The computer is a 333/512Mb iMac using OS 8.6 and the modem is a
Motorola SB4200 "Surfboard".

I'm sure that this is not normal. Any suggestions? Defective modem?
