Three days ago my iMac had a meltdown and it was really hard to get past that blinking ? ...for awhile only my Norton CD could get anywhere. Finally I was able to do a system restore by wiping the hard drive clean and reinstalling the OS. I'm back up to OS 9.1 but I have very very little of my software reinstalled (I was wanting to up the OS to 9.2 and then reinstall everything) so I would expect the machine to be running well BUT it keeps freezing up at shut down right after Norton File Saver runs. So, why might this be happening...or how can I narrow it down to find why myself? And why isnt Norton catching the problem itself?
It just seems really odd to me bc all I have besides the basic OS is Norton System Works, Roxio Toast Lite (the only way my external burner can work), SuperDisk drivers (which I need to access backups and have ran on this thing forever) and one screen saver (which I have also used forever). I thought any extension conflicts that may have led to my original break down would not yet be reinstalled and therefore, not yet a problem.
