Hi all, I recently had to reinstall my system software, and am now finding that my iMac won't recognize my external CD-RW drive. Here's the specifics:
I'm using a Rev. C (266) iMac, running OS 8.6. The external burner is a USB device. It's a 4X4X8 Pacific Digital USB CD-RW (stone age, I know...). The CD-RW powers up fine, but when I insert a disc, it doesn't show up on my desktop. I'm using Toast 4.1.2 for burning, and when I start that up, it says that no CD-RW device is connected. I think my USB connections are O.K. - my USB printer's working fine, and I've tried the burner in both USB ports. I've contact Pacific Digital's customer support. They say the CD-RW is supposed to be plug and play - it apparently doesn't require a driver. So I'm thinking that I must be missing an extension or something. Any ideas?
