I had recently mailed the list with my iMac freezing at shut down problems. I did as many suggested and got rid of Norton. This solved the shut down problem at first, but basically everytime I thought I had the culprit and turned it off or uninstalled it, something new froze or crashed. Then I started getting lots of memory error messages and app's doing the craziest things that I had never seen before! All this after a system restore and zapping the PRAM, so it really has been blowing my mind.
This morning I took out the 512 mb of RAM I recently purchased, and so far I havent had a problem. Could I be right, could this be a faulty memory stick?? Or could the order they are in my iMac make a difference? I'm going to run for awhile without the new memory, and then for awhile with the two modules reversed, but I wondered if anyone else has had any experience with something like this and what did you do? And any suggestions on how I can make sure this is really the trouble before I bug the company I bought from?
