The problem is Norton FileSaver. The box should come with a HUGE 
warning sticker that forbids buyers from actually installing Norton on 
their OS X systems. Run off the CD, it's fine, but any of Norton's 
EXTREMELY insidious system patches are GUARANTEED to destabilise your 
system.

My best suggestion to you is to wipe the drive again, reinstall OS X 
and 9.22 or whatever you have there and do **NOT** install Norton on 
the drive. Run it off the CD **only**.
