Hi Gerry, thanks for responding. But maybe I didn't explain it clearly. The new iBooks run X fine, what they will NOT run is OS 9.0!! They absolutely require 9.2.2. Go to Apple support, check OS compatibility (sorry I can't post the url, it seems to get garbled when I try to copy it) Anything under 9.2.2, even 9.2.1 will not be recognized by the new iBooks. So my old OS 9.0 disk can't be updated to run the classic mode under OSX, I can't even get it to run alone. I can get the Japanese version of OS 9.2.2 to mount properly, install, and run, but I do not WANT the Japanese version (which came with the machine), I want the English version. I don't want to have to buy another OS 9.2.2 disk, and it seems Apple does not even sell them any more. So I need a work around, thus my question about whether ethernet can be used to transfer an entire OS. I want to install OS 9.0 on my iMac, run the updaters from Apple, then transfer the already updated OS 9.2.2 via ethernet to my iBook. -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
