*Exactly* the same thing happened to me just recently after I installed HotBurn which came with my Iomega USB CDRW. Well, almost the same thing. Well, really not at all, but hey there are similarities. Actually, I never even got the hardware hooked up. The HotBurn software conflicted with other software so much that I had to un-install it.
The specs *do* say that it's compatible with OSs up to 9.1, but I assumed that was because 9.2.2 (which I also am using) wasn't out yet when the specs were last updated. Maybe it is really good only up to OS 9.1, and simply will not run on any OS after that. Maybe we both have to install it and then go to the Iomega site to get HotBurn updates, if there are any. (I haven't looked.) Maybe we have to trade down to OS 9.1. Maybe we have to get Toast. Those who answered here (thanks Jack and Gerry) said Toast is The Only One. At any rate, if you're just backing up you can use the CDRW with Retrospect, you don't need burning SW. Let me know what you do. I'll keep you posted as well.
