Ok here's my experiences with a Rev B.... same basic monster as yours. My first instinct is that you have a RAM problem. I'll explain, when I got my Rev B on Ebay it had 32 Megs of RAM. I bought a 128 chip for it at Staples... it was a SO-DIMM not made for a mac but figured for $19.95 I'd give it a shot. The ones for mac are rated 2-2-2....don't ask me what that means but its what all actual ones are. I tried putting two in and got the same thing you have a chime then the little light just stays orange. Pressing cuda, zapping PRAM nothing fixes this except putting only the original apple 32 Meg SO-DIMM in and then pressing the CUDA switch. Well since I've always been kind of a tinkerer I played around with it and as long as I start the computer up with only the apple 32 Meg SO-DIMM in then after I shut down I can put the 128 in the upper slot and it will work fine.... AS LONG AS I don't push the cuda switch after putting the 128 in. That computer is my wifes and its been humming along through 8.6, 9.1, 9.2 on up to 10.2.4 with that same 160 Megs of RAM in there for about two years now. All she uses it for is AOL, Apple Works and iTunes so I've never bothered to get actual RAM made for her computer, figured if it ain't broke ;D Only problem is every so often we lose power or get brown outs and sometimes that does something to it and it realizes it doesn't have the proper RAM in it and I have to go through the whole thing again.... pull ram leave only 32 Meg in press cuda, restart, shutdown add 128. Though its been on for about 6 months now even through a couple more power failures and .... knock on wood.... it hasn't given me a minute of problem. Oh and for the record that same thing doesn't work for iMac slot-loading 350's. I tried popping a PC 133 chip in there and it killed me..... I didn't have any original apple chips (this one came with a 3rd party 128 in it when I got it on Ebay) to put in it so had to borrow a 64 Meg apple chip from a friend to get it to reboot. Thats one good reason to keep those old small apple chips around when the logic board gets pissy putting apple chips in there seems to help. Matt Current Stable of Macs..
