Any of you technically versed Mac Gurus willing to help me have some fun with one of my ""PEECEE's are the only computers in existence" friends?
We banter back & forth in friendly fun, but truthfully, I can not hold my own against him at all. He has some sort of computer degree and was fed all through it on the myths about the "more expensive, less powerful Macs". If you have the time to kill and would like to help me have fun with him and at the same time help educate both him and, well me too (a very un-technically verse Mac Addict who would like to learn more), email me direct off-list. His last diatribe is too long to copy here. It has some statements that seem to me, in my technical ignorance, as just a little off the mark. One like, "RISC chips are inherently slower than CISC?" I believe he also has the wrong definition of CISC. Also he states, "DOOM, is a classic game. it will run nicely on a 386 12Mhz PC. DOOM for Mac will run on at least a 75Mhz PowerPC. The 386 processor is five years older then the first PowerPC chip." Now I assume, if this is in fact true, that it might be because DOOM had to be re-written to take advantage of the PPC processor's advance speed, but I do not know. Anyway, if you are a Mac-Evangelist and willing to educate a lowly initiate to a higher level and help proselytize are poor deluded PeeCee-er, email me.
