My wife and I share our iMac under OS X 10.2.6. I have a number of entries in the Address Book. What I'd like to do is this: Each of us could share 1 Address Book. It would be available to either of us. She could edit a contact, and when I logged in next time, that change would be reflected. At the same time, we could maintain separate groups for ourselves. In essence, we'd have one centralized Address Book database, with some customization available to the individual user. Make sense?

I'm somewhat at a loss as to how to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

the built-in Address Book doesn't have multiple user functionality. there are a few different ways to do what you're trying.

the easy method is to use a program called DayLite instead of Address Book - it's essentially an ACT! clone for Mac. At $149 for the business edition (I don't know if they have other, cheaper editions - they may), this may be overkill for what you're trying.

the other method is more difficult and requires UNIX knowledge. you could run an LDAP server on your Mac, then set up Address Book to reference that server. LDAP is an ornery protocol, though, and I don't know that Address Book is actually able to make changes to an LDAP directory. It's worth examining, though.
