As an "ex- network security specialist" (read "good/white hacker") I would
say you are as safe in OS X as you were in 9, if not more so. Norton
Internet Security is a joke. It's like trying to prevent thieves from
entering your home by hanging up heavier curtains. It's sold as
"peace-of-mind" software. Not a lot of bang for the buck, but some people
*feel* better using it. It just clutters up your system and does little in
the real world to prevent you from hackers. If anything it dramatizes
simple port scans into something they are not so that the product looks good
to the consumer by blocking them. Even if they are coming from your ISP.

There needs to be a change in the way that people think about internet
security. People are trying to put up walls to block people from accessing
their machine, but in reality that is not always a good thing. You just
need to know who the good guys and the bad guys are so that you can keep
them out of your personal info. Your machine will be scanned. It's a fact.
Whenever someone spams me from a recognizable e-mail address I port scan
their machine and look for a way in so that I can send them a few of my own
annoying messages. All on the up and up though.

Just follow simple rules like using passwords and never giving out your CC
info to a less than reputable company and you will be fine.
