Despite his experience, Jeremy is wrong. As it clearly says on labels on the machines themselves, doing "x" will "void your warranty."

What I think he MEANT was that he never ran across a case where Apple refused to service a product because the user had touched the internals of the machine. Or maybe he meant that even if Apple refuses to service your machine because of obvious abuse, they will still service something that WASN'T the result of user abuse.

some things you do to a Mac aren't covered by the warranty, and plenty
of things aren't "supported" by Apple.

This means EXACTLY the same thing as "void your warranty." If you go swimming with your iMac, Apple will refuse to service it because what you did isn't covered by your warranty. Ergo, you "voided" your warranty.

Contrary to Jeremy's experience I have seen PLENTY of instances where Apple would refuse to service a machine that, for example, had been "overclocked" by it's owner (which subsequently blew up the chip). Warranty voided, you are out one machine, tough luck.

Bottom line: I think we have a bit of a miscommunication problem here, but the one thing everyone should keep in mind is that APPLE *can* and *will* refuse to service/replace/repair your machine if it's obvious you ruined it through abuse.
