Burning CD's

I just got an eMac with a combo drive and for the life of me can't get 
the thing to write a file located on my desktop (it's there as an icon) 
It gives me an error code 35.  I'm using the program Disc Copy.  
Anybody out there have any suggestions of what I'm doing wrong? TIA
