Have any of the list members had experience using Airport to connect to the internet? Any pros or cons?
I own a 55 year old brick residence. I could run telephone lines for computer use (I have a dedicated backline exclusively for computer use); or I could install an Airport system...
Bryce,
Is there any way you could borrow an airport setup to check it out first ? I live in a concrete block house and the range is not that great. I seems to go through one wall ok, but two rooms away it fades out drastically and it is only about 40 feet away. This is with the new airport extreme base station and card. It's possible an exterior antenna would help out here.
Saying that, I love it. I use the powerbook in my living room all the time and like being able to move it around. I don't know what the cost would be to wire where I want it, but it would be messy because I have an open ceiling...no where to easily run wires.
