Hi everyone. I have an imac g3 700 mhz...works great. I love imacs. I'm having problems with my G4 though. This may be off topic but I would appreciate any help. I listed this same problem with the Power Macintosh list but responses were inadequate as there are not many people willing to respond. I see on the imac list though that many people offer help here, probably because this is the best list and people are so kind : ). Hopefully you guys don't have any problems with G4s and will not be to mad at me for posting this monitor/G4 topic. Sorry about this and thanks in advance for any help offered....
Here is the story. We have a g4 400 mhz mac which was hooked up to a monitor that went dead. Every now and then you would here a clicking noise that snapped at you as the light flickered on the crt monitor. As the clicking went on it got more violent and then eventually the monitor's picture just went dead, a nice ol black screen of death was all we could see. We then purchased another crt monitor, hooked it up and voila! the picture was back...everything seemed fine until the clicking attacked us again. I thought maybe the monitor was the problem but it is obviously not since the new monitor is doing the same thing. I'm afraid something is dreadfully wrong with the insides of the G4...but what could it be? What should I do and check? Is it maybe the connection? The power outlet? Video card? battery? I have not a clue. Any suggestions? Again... thanks in advance.
oh here are the model #s....
The first monitor that went dead, black screen of death is a Radius 19 " multi-scan color monitor (model # Radius L-1). The other monitor that we just got that is not dead, but it clicks like the one that went dead is a KDS 17 " High Resolution Color Monitor (model # VS-7P).
