DO NOT RESET THE CUDA!  That can kill even the external video.   Try
external video.  If that does not work then try modifying some of the
hardware (remove a RAM stick).   This will trick the iMac into thinking it
is someone else and make the upgrade possible.  Worst case scenario is you
pull the board and put it into a different iMac and upgrade it there.
