I am almost convinced it is purely a software limitation that restricts iBooks and 
iMAcs to mirroring only and the maximum screen res. I know there is a hack for OS 9.2 
that allows the iceBook to do dual monitor.

Having a nice new G4/800 iMac I'd love to know if OS X can be doctored to do duel 
moitor - there are odd occasions where I miss being able to work in Illustrator at 
1280x960.
