All pre-X apps have their memory requirements set manually. Default settings are typically a bit low. "Get Info" on the app file, select "Memory", and you should probably increase "preferred size" by a couple dozen MB. But why don't you just use an OS X-native version of Netscrape? Or Mozilla or Safari?
