It suggests using pdisk, which is a Unix-utility, for the job. I have once resurrected a linux partition on an iMac, where I had installed Linux, so I guess it is possible. I am pretty sure it will erase the data on the partitions that you add to your main partition, but you will probably be able to retain data on that partition. That said, I am not sure that it will work at all, and if I were you, I would take at least two backups of your disk before proceeding and testing that they work! I am sure you can easily ruin all of your data this way if you are not very carefully. If you do, let us know how it went!
