When you say "setup a webpage" what do you mean, exactly, a web page visible to the whole world? Or a web page visible to the other computers on the network?

To find your IP address, go to Applications -> Utilities -> Network Utility. Your IP address is listed on the Info page.

If you want to know the IP address assigned to your router by your provider, one way to find it is to go to http://whatismyip.com .

*** Be very careful when tinkering with your router. You can expose computers on your side (sometimes called the Green network) to outsiders, putting them at risk. Especially your Windows boxes. ***

A DMZ is a network (sometimes called the Orange network) of one or more computers that are visible from the outside. These should run minimal services, and contain nothing that you don't want the world to know about, or trash, since they are vulnerable.

If you want a server on your network to be visible to the world, and you're using a Dynamic IP Address (as most DSL is), look into services such as http://www.dyndns.org . There are others, search for Dynamic DNS. I believe some are free. You will also need to allow port 80 access from the outside (sometimes called the Red network) to the computer running the web server.

If you want the server to be visible only to computers on your network, your router will probably allow that, since they are on the same sub-network. E.g. If you iMac is 192.168.0.102, then a PC with address 192.168.0.203 should be able to see it. To check this, on the iMac, run Applications -> Utilities -> Network Utility. Go to the Ping tab, put in the IP of the PC, and click Ping. You should see some trip times. If you see host is down, your iMac can't see the PC. The IP address assigned to the iMac by the router will usually stay the same, so if you bookmark the imac on the Pismo or PCs, you should be able to go back, and not have to type the IP address. The router keeps up with the MAC address on the network adapter, and the last IP address leased to it. As long as the lease is renewed (i.e. the computer connects to the router), the router will assign the same address.

To find out if your PC can see the iMac, run a Command Prompt on the PC and type 'ping 192.168.0.102', leaving off the quotes, and substituting the iMac's IP address for the number shown. Same scenario as above, you should see some trip times. That means the PC can see the iMac.

To find out the IP on the PC, go to a command prompt and type 'winipcfg' or 'ifconfig', again without the quotes. This should open a window (winipcfg) or print the address (ifconfig) of the PC.

That should keep you busy a while :-)

Let me know how it goes.

Here is my setup: DSL service connected to a D-Link 614+ 4 port router with wireless. I have my FP iMac(wired), Pismo(wireless), both 10.2.6, and 2 other PCs (no comment) connected. I would like to be able to setup a webpage on my FP iMac, but can not figure out how to configure the router to allow direct access to my IP. I can also not find the IP that the DSL has DHCPed me. I have tried to set up a DMZ, but I do not exactly know what that would do. I am fairly new with networks, but can get around with them. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,
