I need some guidance on using firmware upgrades on my
bondi iMac.

We're trying to make sure we have the most updated usb
extensions and suppport. Last year, I dl'd and
installed the USB Mass storage support 1.3.5 upgrade.
(Why I had to do this -- we got our iMac used, and the
drive was reformatted. ) Until I ran the mass storage
support 1.3.5 upgrade, the iMac wouldn't recognize my
Olympus digital camera. After the upgrade, no prob.

Anyways, we're working on hooking up some other dv
equipment, and we want to make sure we have the best
usb support possible for our iMac and OS (8.6)

So i went looking for updates at the Apple site. I
found

iMac update 1.1 which appears to do some improvements
to the USB functionality. In order to run this,
though, you need to run the "firmware update."

The only firmware update that I could find that seemed
relevant to our iMac 233 was called Firmware update
1.2 . But the readme files talk about "improved
functionality in netboot environments and Mac OS X
servers." Neither of which is something we deal with
right now.

And I worry that since I already installed Mass
Storage Support 1.3.5 maybe running these updates will
actually put me back, and I would have to run the Mass
Storage Support 1.3.5 installer again after the
updates.

Can someone give me some reassurance?

Thanks

Pook
