In OS 9.2.1, in apple Remote access, I'm getting an error -3170. I've checked the basic lists that apple has via a search for remote access error -3170 and derivations there of, but haven't come accross a listing for this particular error.

Found this on Google:

Using the Outlook Express, is providing me now with the following error when trying to pick up email:
"The specified server could not be found - Error - 3170 "

So, when exactly are you getting the error? Maybe your DNS is timing out? Or one of the servers is down, erroring out, &c? Double check the spelling, right tld (aol.com not aol.org, for example).
