If you're planning to edit photos in PhotoShop, you need RAM RAM RAM. If
yours is a Rev A iMac, you're limited to 256MB.  You probably have two 32MB
sticks now, so you'll need to replace both sticks.  The lower slot requires
the low-profile RAM stick.

With more RAM, you could comfortably upgrade the OS to 9 as well, which
would allow you to run the latest PhotoShop (V7).  If you want to save $,
you can stick with OS8 and find an old copy of PhotoShop 5.5, which was very
stable and functional, just lacks some of the advanced features of Version
7.
