There is a new option when sending an attachment via mail.app. A check
box labeled "Send Windows Friendly Attachment". I have been through the
"What's new" section of mail help and queried help. I haven't found any
explanation of this yet, and ti's not mentioned in the material that
came with 10.3.

I believe that it means that Mail will now AUTOMATICALLY turn all attachments into ZIP files. This is a GREAT benefit for sending to AOL and Windows-illiterate people (ie, most of America).
