Hi Debra, Back in the days of OS9 I used two applications, Eradicator and Autopurge.
The homepage of Eradicator is gone, but Autopurge can still be found here: http://www.stimpsoft.com/downloads.htm Although the company does not exist anymore. I would probably encourage you to add some RAM and consider switching to Panther instead of fighting OS9.
