Hi, I have OS 10.2.6 and OS 9.2.2 on the first half of my iMac. (Bondi Blue, 384 mgs of Ram) I can't get my scanner (Umax 1220U) to work properly under these systems. It keeps freezing or causing problems with my classic OS. I had no problem with OS 9.1. I just tried to install OS 9.1 on the second half of my partitioned hard drive, thinking perhaps I could just use this with my Adobe Photodeluxe software (utilizing Vistascan) for my scanner. But when I restarted it (from system preferences control panel), I got nothing but a gray screen with a very small message about firmware update (which I have done previously). I could not advance beyond this. I had to restart my computer using Norton Utilities and get that to restart my computer with OS 10.2.6. It was pretty scary, and I thought at first, I'd totally fried my computer. I can't figure out why my OS 9.1 (from my original software disks) won't work, When I used the Norton utilities CD, it used os 9.1 to fix things. Crazy, huh? Any ideas? Do you think my disks are just messed up? I also have 8.5 software. Would I be crazy to try that on the second partition? (I've deleted the 9.1) Can you use 8.5 if you have 10.2.6 on the first partition? Thanks to anyone who replies! I just want my scanner back!
Lauren
