Yes.

I don't think you can install 8.5.1 from a generic, non-machine specific 
OS Install Disk, but you can use a generic, non-machine specific OS 
Install Disk to install OS 9.0, I've done that several times. I've also 
used 9.2.2 CDs from the 933 MHz QuickSilver G4s on those iMacs and B&W G3s.
