I recently bought a used 233Mhz iMac (OS 9.1). It works great, but when you do a shut down.....it spins down, the screen goes blank, but it doesn't take the final step and "turn off" the power. The green light is still there. I have disable energy saver and that doesn't seem to help. I did a clean install and that didn't help. So I have no alternative but to turn off the power to the computer or it won't come back up.....so it doesn't appear to be in "sleep" mode. Also, the battery must be good because it give me the correct time and date after each time I turn off the power.

Is this turning off the power to the computer going to do damage?

Thanks,
