No to put too fine a point on it, but is she sure her computer has a DVD drive, rather than simply a CD drive? Assuming she is indeed using a dvd player, it sounds like a situation where you have created a data volume which may be Macintosh formatted, rather than a universal format readible by a broader range of dvd players.
