I got my 20" FP iMac last week -- it's great! It works surprising well on the built in 256 MB RAM, but just as I was about to order 512MB from Crucial ($110)
Question for techies -- why does Crucial's site say their RAM is 200 pin, and every other manufacturer say theirs is 184 pin?
Your Mac has two RAM slots. One is "user accessible" - takes a 200 pin SO-DIMM. The other is a right PITA to get at - takes 184 pin SDRAM.

I see that CompUSA has a Sunday-only 20th anniversary sale: 512MB DDR PC 2700 RAM, for $39.99 after rebates (list $79.99).
Is this a "too good to be true" deal, or should I get in my car now & head down to CompUSA?
You'll need to find out if the CompUSA unit is a SO-DIMM. If it is, you could take a chance on it meeting the Apple spec, as long as you can return it, if unsatisfactory.
For me, because RAM is such a critical component of the system, and "bad RAM" is so difficult to troubleshoot, I would spend the extra money to buy from a Mac specialist source.
