Hi, When I was on the windows world (5 months ago) I bought a Windows formatted iPod. Now that I am happy in the Mac world I still use my windows formatted iPod for transferring LARGE amounts of data from my work PC to my home iMac, and viceversa. The cool thing is that Macs read any FAT formatted drive, not viceversa.
Actually, I have considered to reformat my iPod to HFS but I don't want to lose my 10GB tranfer capacity. So, though my iPod is a "Windows" one, I will leave it as it is. The seller does not know. iPods are initially formatted for either Windows or Macintosh. You can convert from one to the other. Here is a quote from Apple's FAQ on the subject (found at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60920#faq8). "Question 8: Can I use an iPod formatted for Mac on a PC, or an iPod formatted for Windows on a Mac? Answer: It is not possible to use an iPod formatted for Mac with Windows. This is because Windows does not support the HFS Plus file system and therefore will not see the drive. You can convert an iPod formatted for Windows into an iPod for Mac by using the iPod for Mac Software Updater on the Apple website. Note that once it is reformatted, it will only work with Macs.
