Jim,

I will be having one eMac (already connected to cable modem broadband) and will broadcast to two PC's. One in my daughter's room and my IBM laptop that I use for teaching. With this setup, I don't think that AppleTalk is an issue.

However, I may be setting up a wireless in my office with both Macs and PC's so this information is very useful.

Thanks for the response

I would like to know from anyone what wireless router brand you have had (that works well with both) and if you would make any suggestions.

One thing to consider is whether or not it is important that your Router support AppleTalk protocol as well as TCP/IP. You need TCP/IP in order to share an Ethernet connection, but AppleTalk is also needed if you want to share an AppleTalk printer over the network or if you want to do file sharing between computers using AppleTalk protocol, i.e. the normal Mac way.

In my experience, LinkSys and Asante Routers support AppleTalk, but it is something that you will probably not find advertised on the outside of the product carton. So I would either check the manufacturer's web site or specifically ask the retail sales folk where you are buying your Router and be sure that you can return the item if you get home and discover it does not support AppleTalk.

Good luck.
