Since I signed up for Earthlink last year I have periodically written them about the abscence of tools and features for the Mac. Basically little has happened, and I get meaningless replies from their customer support person. The gist is that I can get service from another ISP for half the price. I'm switching ISP's at the end of the month so I can pay around ten dollars a month instead of over twenty. Earthlink may be good for PC owners (suckers), but overpriced for Mac owners.

I am "mystery dialup". Thanks to all who replied. I turned off the automatic time check and that seems to have cleared up the random dialup. I have 8.6 (stable and trouble-free) on my other iMac and have never had this happen, even though it is set to correct time automatically. My understanding is that this feature shouldn't correct the time unless I'm already connected to the internet. I'm going to experiment with this one more to see if maybe something other than the date & time option is the culprit. Thanks again!
