With an iMac DV you shouldn't have a hard drive limitation at all. The limitation is only for the Rev, A-D iMacs. My husband has an iMac DV and he has an 80Gig drive in it with one partition.
Also, you shouldn't use XPostFacto unless it is absolutely needed. It's still in Beta mode.
Install the hard drive and use it with one partition :) Enjoy it!

I'm finally in the process of opening up a DV iMac somebody gave me and have been following the 8-gig partition string. Plan on installing a 120Gig D540X hard drive shortly. Has anybody on the list used the XPostFacto work around for the 8-Gig limitation? I haven't had time to fully research it but there is a article at macOSXhints on the work around.
