Hi Amber:

Regarding the use of ebay as one source of comparison pricing, a point to understand is that when you are looking at an active auction you are looking at the CURRENT bid price, which may or may not reflect the price that the unit will actually go for at the end of the auction. I find it more helpful to do my initial search and then, once I have found a search string which seems to be giving me items comparable to that in which I am interested, I hit the "Completed Auctions" button over on the left side of the screen. This will bring up a totally different set of auctions, based on my same search criteria, but being auctions which have been completed in the recent past. Now I am looking at the actual transaction prices.

Another thing to keep in mind is that folks who purchase something via an ebay auction often need to add shipping expense onto their auction purchase price. If you are thinking of trying to sell your item locally, to someone who will come and pick it up or to whom you will deliver the item, it is sometimes the case that you can charge a little extra because the buyer isn't being forced to pay for shipping.

Good luck!!

Hi,

I am wondering what you would consider a reasonable price for a 500 mhz iMac with 640 MB ram, 20 Gig hard drive, CD-RW drive and with over 6 months remaining on Applecare warranty ?
