My sister is on this list, she said I could write from her account to get
some advice: I installed Panther on an Toshiba 2.5" 80G drive via a
firewire enclosure. It was mostly uneventful, but there were a few failed
boots after the install. I also xperienced a few kernel panics.
Then I installed the drive in my 667 MHz Ti powerbook (it was purchased
with 1GB of Apple RAM). The frequency of kernel panics decreased
dramatically. Then I upgraded from 10.3.3 to 10.3.4 and I've already had 2
panics. Does any one know of any compatibility issues between the
powerbook and the Toshiba 2.5" 80G drive? It seems others are having
Panther panics too, but I suspect many of them are due to using 3rd party
ram that doesn't support memory bus slewing.
Thanks, Randy
