Ok, I didn't think you REALLY meant what you said in your first post. That is, the new Mac owner can't use the license and the old Mac owner can't use the license (re-read what you first wrote, you said the new person has to buy a legal copy and the old person would be illiegally using it on a new machine). You really meant exactly as I have interpreted the license for years. The license stays with the software, regardless of who retains the computer it came with. If the original owner sells the Mac, they must specifically transfer the software with it. They may also choose not to as they may wish to retain copies of it for their own use (such as they bought a Performa with ClarisWorks on it, now by an iMac without it, but they still plan to use ClarisWorks, so they keep the software when they sell the old Mac). So really, we both 100% agree on how it works, and either you mistyped or misconveyed your thoughts in your original post, or I misunderstood them. Keep in mind, this idea does not seem to work with Windows. MS is pretty specific that the copy of windows that ships with a computer is licensed for use on that computer and that computer only. They also have attempted to enforce in the past that the license is good only for the original buyer of the computer.
