Problems like this are invariably linked to the analogue circuitry and failure of said 
circuirty. I am not an expert by any means on iMac G3s but I do have an inkling they 
are prone to PAV board failure, and my experience of CRT failures also points to that. 
How much of the notions I hear about G3 iMac PAV boards is FUD stirring, however, is 
uncertain...
