As the USB connector is a mechanical component of any current Macintosh, was wondering if there has been any documented failure rate of same?
I have a G3 iBook, which see a lot insertion and deinsertion (removal) of either a mouse or on the other side a connector to a 7 port USB Hub. Sometimes the laptop needs to go to another location, so the conenctors get pulled the laptop closed and off I go. Have found I simply don't like any so-called mousepad on any laptop; the ole roller ball would be the best but then... So I usually have a small MaCally mouse, which gets plugged into the USB connector, then unplugged when the computer gets move again, usually the same day. Of late have found the insertion of the male connectors doesn't always fit just so, resulting in a failure to electrically make contact. The USB is a wonderful device however would expect failures at some point, more from a wear factor on the actual contacts. Anybody else?
