Beem there, done that. No answers. Neither on Apple.com. I am getting a -9972 Error code with "The underlying task reported failure on exit" when trying to use First Aid on direct boot from the CD. > >For the experts here, please provide more detail. No. I was using 9.2 for ViaVoice, which I do not have for OS X. >Are there any USB peripherals attached? Have you tried to startup with all >external devices unplugged? There are many. No I did not. They said that the error code is probably a bad disk block in the boot area. They suggested Disk Warrior to build back the directory. But start looking at Apple's web site with keywords >such as "OS 9 Startup Problem." I tried that. All their suggestions were not possible or not the solution. I can live without OS 9, but I really need the files on my OS X partition. Many are backed up, but some are not. I hope that someone can give me a suggestion at this point. Disk Warrior seems to be my direction at this time. If anyone has used it before, is there a special version for OS X or does any version work?
