Dunno why you say this, Chas, I think it's worth a try.

DiskWarrior is often recommended for the PEOF problem, and AFAIK, it
often works to clear it up.  Alsoft (on their website) has feedback
from a customer who used DW for the PEOF problem.

Okay, thanks for that info. I'll amend my comments thusly:

If you're buying DW *solely* to fix this problem, be aware that it MAY not work. I personally think DW is a good investment, but at $90 or so some people would be annoyed if it didn't fix the one problem they were having.

OTOH, it might help and is a good investment anyway. If you can spare the money, it certainly won't hurt to try.
