I received the message below from someone on another list, does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

My wife has one of the original iMacs with the tinted transparent shell. We got it in 2000 and it's generally run just fine. Today the screen just wouldn't come on at all, completely black, with no hint of trouble prior to this.

Before I either open it up and start fiddling, or take it to the "local" Mac repair place (40 miles away in Charlotte) anyone know anything about this behavior? Is the screen just shot? Is there a plug or loose wire I just need to push back in?
